In her little known book, Vital Little Plans, Jacobs describes these key aspects about the term Gentrification and how to slow it's charge. She deflected a development project which was set to demolish much of her own neighborhood and to completely, in my opinion, obliterate the substantive vibe of downtown Manhattan. Jacobs is widely know as the grassroots activist of Manhattan's West Village who in the 1960's organized a opposition to halt a massive highway development project and won. Like Michelangelo and Scarpa, Jacobs envisioned the future she wanted and stopped at nothing until it was made manifest. Jane Jacobs is one of my top ten favorite people who have been involved in the discourse of architecture over the past 500 years. The idea is that of the Grassroots activist, Jane Jacobs.
My assertion regarding ownership is not my own, though over the past several years I have mindfully allowed for this idea to permeate all my future plans.
